In the ancient era of 10,000 BC, the earth is still forming and human civilizations are taking their first steps towards development. The story revolves around D'Leh (Steven Strait), a young mammoth hunter who lives in a small tribe led by his father, Toba (Cliff Curtis). As the last ice age begins to recede, the tribe's way of life is threatened by the impending arrival of new human groups. When D'Leh's father and other tribe members embark on a perilous journey to find a new home, they leave behind their sacred spear, which holds the power to bring fertility back to the land.
